Want a protein that looks like cuts of steak or chicken but is actually made from the root portion of mushrooms?
When developed at scale, Meati, a Boulder start-up that recently won $50 million in funding says its plants will produce the equivalent of 4,500 cows every 24 hours and use less than one percent of the water and land required for traditional animal meat production, according to a news release from the company.
Meati dubbed the “Urban Ranch,” will have the capacity to produce millions of pounds of Meati that will feed populations potentially across the globe.
