The Central Coast wines of California have a new competitor. A  company named Ocean Fathoms, is filling iron cages the size of washing machines with wine bottles and dropping them down into the Pacific about 70 feet.

By storing the wine in a place without light or oxygen, at a perfect temperature, and with the swaying of the ocean, the wine can improve  dramatically boasts this company.

The sea life that attaches to the wine bottles makes each unique.

Each bottle is adorned with barnacles, coral, seashells and ornate hard shelled tubes formed by annelida sea worms.
