Technology that can safely inspect assets
Every year, Australia loses billions of dollars due to infrastructure failures, spends billions of dollars on inspecting its aging assets and loses some of its bravest men and women who take the risk to do this dangerous job. Hovermap is an intelligent Unmanned Aerial Vehicle with advanced collision avoidance, non-GPS flight and accurate 3D mapping capabilities ? all tailored to suit industrial inspection requirements. It is an inspection tool of the future that can be used to safely and efficiently inspect hard-to-reach assets and collect extremely high fidelity data in previously unreachable places. Hovermap has been supported by the ON Accelerate program at CSIRO.?http://www.oninnovation.com.au/en/ON-teams/ON-Tribe/Accelerate2/Hovermap

A new benefit for the defence force
Defence Forces want persistent situational awareness without compromising their own survivability. Silentium Defence gives clients the ability to maintain their situational awareness, without advertising their presence. The ability to be aware of both active and silent objects using a sensor that is itself silent is therefore a disruptive capability for Defence. Silentium has been supported by the ON Accelerate program at CSIRO. http://www.oninnovation.com.au/en/ON-teams/ON-Tribe/Accelerate3/Silentium-Defence

A Smart Bike Helmet that Can Detect Collisions and Change Shape
Lukas Franz has created Madillo, a helmet that can detect collisions and call an ambulance if the wearer gets into an accident. The helmet is made of an auxetic material, a material that becomes thicker when stretched, to provide a better fit for its wearer. The Madillo helmet also includes smart sensors and LEDs weaved into the design. The helmet will shine whenever the wearer changes directions. If it senses that the rider has been in a collision, it even sends an SOS signal out to the nearest hospital and summons for an ambulance, while transmitting the location until help arrives. https://designbylukasfranz.com/vadillo

The world's most precise clock
University of Adelaide researchers in South Australia are developing the world's most precise clock which will be able to boost a key defence asset that safeguards Australia. The University?s Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS) has been awarded a $2 million contract by the Australian Government to adapt and develop its Sapphire Clock which is the culmination of 15 years of investment in leading-edge fundamental research. It can now deliver signals that are more than 100 times more precise than any competing technology. Scientists developing the clock have been participating in the CSIRO ON Innovation Program https://www.adelaide.edu.au/news/news89202.html

The Worlds First Electric Ship
Dutch maritime company, Port-Liner, has developed the world's first fully electric container ship. It will be powered by carbon-neutral batteries and it is designed to operate without a crew. The ship can travel for around 14 hours on a single charge, long enough to cover the popular Rotterdam/Antwerp/Duisburg shipping corridor. The barge can carry around 8 percent more cargo than a similarly-sized diesel vessel and has greater loading efficiency. https://www.portliner.nl/

New nanoparticles to improve treatments
Lucigem produces a range of nanomaterials, primarily focused on fluorescent nanodiamonds. It uses small and bright nanodiamond and nanoruby probes, which can be attached to objects to light them up and thus enable tracking using optical or other detection techniques over long periods. Lucigem strives to generate nanoparticles with well-characterised physical and chemical properties, which ensure you achieve reproducible results. Lucigem has been supported by the ON Accelerate program at CSIRO. http://www.oninnovation.com.au/en/ON-teams/ON-Tribe/Accelerate3/LuciGem
