Failure is the best experience you can ever have- though it's better if you can learn from other people's failures so you don't have to go through it yourself. Converting your own failures to success takes a lot of resilience.

Useful conference gift
This pen was given, with the case, at an event on the future of financial reporting with IFRS in Jakarta this month. The pen is thoughtful and useful as it has 2 spotlight choices at the top- a red laser pointer as well as a white light which would be helpful in reading small print in the dark, such as on menus. The gift was from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in Indonesia .

A bus that runs on rails and doesn't take up road space
A Beijing company has designed an elevated bus that can glide over traffic. It's called the Transit Explore Bus or TEB and plans were showcased this month at a technology expo in Beijing. It's supported by two legs that run along rails laid on the roadside which allow the bus to glide at speeds of up to 60km per hour. Vehicles that are less than 2 metres high will be able to drive freely underneath the bus, even when it's stationary.

Clever garage theme for a startup conference
Blackbird Ventures held a startup conference for founders with a very detailed garage theme at CarriageWorks in Sydney. Since many startups start in garages this was a clever theme. The conference, called The Sunrise, featured very successful founders telling their stories. Leaders presenting included Mike-Cannon-Brookes (Atlassian), Melanie Perkins (Canva), Andre Eikmeier (Vinomofo), Craig Barratt (Google Fiber), Chris Boshuizen (Planet Labs) and Julie Stevanja (Stylerunner).
