A FASTag-like technology called Fastlane is being rolled out in some petrol pumps in India. It was developed by Mumbai-based startup AGS Transact Technologies LtdCurrently, there are more than 120 Fastlane-enabled HPCL petrol pumps in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Pune. Many more are in the pipeline.A RFID reader on the fuel nozzle tells the petrol pump attendant how much petrol or diesel a consumer wants to buy, who then refills the car tank accordingly. This enables users to drive out quickly without the hassle of bill payment.

In the bigger picture, AI will be the brains behind a proposed national smart grid that will take the input of millions of sensors to make real-time decisions about which sensors need to be replaced and where to allocate energy resources. One very famous example of an energy-saving AI algorithm involves Google. Wind and solar offer particularly rich datasets that algorithms can chew on in order to provide insights on current problems, predict issues that might arise, improve energy storage or to identify the optimal layout of the next mega solar farm .

Sony, has unveiled a new prototype of always connected electric car VISION-S, fitted with 33 sensors, includes CMOS image sensors & ToF sensors,uses them to identify people, objects, traffic etc. in the car & has a 360Reality Audio system built into each seat too.Sony said the technology used in the VISION-S can be used in other types of vehicles. It’s unclear whether that includes all other kinds of vehicles though.

Segway has unveiled a self-balancing vehicle that can go up to 24 mph. Called the S-Pod, it’s designed for sitting while navigating enclosed campuses. S-Pod uses an adaptive center-of-gravity automatic control system to enable the passenger to easily adjust the speed by handling the knob to change the center of gravity in the pod. Segway-Ninebot also unveiled a kick scooter with a maximum speed of 12.4 mph. 

Curve, the so-called “over-the-top” banking platform that lets you consolidate all of your bank cards into a single Curve card and app, is launching a new feature to make it possible to send money to friends and contacts.Dubbed “Curve Send,” the feature lets you send money from any of your bank accounts (via the debit cards you have linked to Curve) to any other account in over 25 different currencies.
