Swiss bank UBS has linked with Harvard University and the City University of New York on a 2 year research program to build a framework that measures the impact of global equities on climate change, water, food security and health. This research aims to create a landmark tool for the global pension fund industry to help them buy or sell shares in listed companies based on their environmental and social impact, hence their sustainability.

This competition has been designed to encourage Indigenous Australian students in Kindy to Year 12 studying in NSW. The Group section of the competition is offered to support Aboriginal students working together with their classmates to develop a shared story, poem or play. The award is named after Patrick White as he was one of Australia?s most accomplished writers and an avid supporter of the advancement of Indigenous Australian youth. He was the first Australian writer to receive a Nobel Prize for Literature.

Harbor seals in Scotland will be receiving smartphone technology in an effort to address their sharp population decline, as a result of a new partnership between marine biologists at the University of St Andrews with Vodafone. Seals will be harmlessly tagged with devices which are equipped with Vodafone?s new machine-to-machine technology, sending crucial information from each seal back to the scientists.
