New York City encourages its residents to sponsor small parks. This shot of the first blooms signaling spring is from the Sheridan Square Viewing Garden in Greenwich Village. The land was originally a small parking lot for motorcycles. Then a group of residents petitioned for the establishment of a garden in that small space. Once permission was granted, they planted it and maintain it to this day.

The Jacksonville (Florida) airport has a clever idea to feature rocking chairs in acknowledgment that Florida is a favorite retirement destination, but also transforming the idea to the more contemporary idea that it's a destination that "rocks." The newly-remodeled Museum of Modern Art in New York uses architecture as part of the visual experience and features exhibits such as "Handles" that docents (voluntary guides) climb into at 4 pm and "drive" around. The exhibit features six sculptures which are activated daily, with dazzling geometries, and the play of light and sound
