A bus that runs on rails and doesn't take up road space
A Beijing company has designed an elevated bus that can glide over traffic. It's called the Transit Explore Bus or TEB and plans were showcased this month at a technology expo in Beijing. It's supported by two legs that run along rails laid on the roadside which allow the bus to glide at speeds of up to 60km per hour. Vehicles that are less than 2 metres high will be able to drive freely underneath the bus, even when it's stationary.

The conference, called The Sunrise, featured very successful founders telling their stories. Leaders presenting included Mike-Cannon-Brookes (Atlassian), Melanie Perkins (Canva), Andre Eikmeier (Vinomofo), Craig Barratt (Google Fiber), Chris Boshuizen (Planet Labs) and Julie Stevanja (Stylerunner).

A female focussed angel investor network
The Harvard Business Review (July 19, 2016) said that, if we want to have more successful technology startups led by women, it may not be enough to simply encourage more women to start companies. A crucial step to helping more female entrepreneurs succeed may be to encourage more women to join venture capital firms. A new investment network encouraging female investors for female-led start-ups hopes to level the playing field. www.scaleinvestors.com.au https://hbr.org/2016/07/research-the-gender-gap-in-startup-success-disappears-when-women-fund-women

A clever app to locate your kids
Find My Friends has been a very useful app in our family for keeping track of our kids, particularly when they're overseas. They agreed to it when we provided them with phones. Recently we also found it useful when my husband lost his phone.
