A new initiative to encourage women entrepreneurs

Sydney-based start-up accelerator BlueChilli has launched a new program called SheStarts to encourage women tech entrepreneurs in Australia. The $1 million program offers 10 female entrepreneurs $100,000 each in pre-seed capital and a spot in an accelerator backed by corporate partners ANZ, MYOB, Sunsuper and UTS. The selected entrepreneurs will also participate in a documentary web series that showcases the development of their respective businesses. Applications open today and close on October 31. www.shestarts.com.au

Paired kidney program leading to more kidney donations in Australia

Australian and New Zealand Paired Kidney Exchange Is going gang busters at increasing the number of kidneys donated / transplant patients into people that need them. Last year was a record year with 1/5 of all living kidney donors came from this program. The program allows friends and family who want to donate a kidney to a loved one but aren't a good medical match, to be paired with others in the same situation.
