On 10 May 2023 Britain's fertility regulator confirmed births of the UK's first babies created using an experimental technique combining DNA from three people, an effort to prevent the children from inheriting rare genetic diseases.In 2015, the UK was the first country to adopt legislation regulating methods to help prevent women with faulty mitochondria from passing defects on to their babies. ABC reporters Stephanie Dalzeil and Emmy Groves write that the cost of hundreds of medicines will be halved for millions of Australians with chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease. From September 2023, they will be able to buy 60 days' worth of medicine for the price of a single prescriptions.Consumers Health Forum of Australia (CHF) chief executive Elizabeth Deveny said, 'Consumers are telling us that they can't afford the health care.'
