This new kind of barcode allows you to see beyond the label
With Smart Fingerprints that use artificial intelligence and blockchain-enabled technology, a product label can now help consumers to identify and verify its quality just by using their smartphone’s web browser. The codes are built to provide unique and transparent information related to the production process, product traceability and authenticity. No two identical looking products share the same fingerprint -and unlike QR codes, these are scam and virus-free. The Australian technology company is now looking for investors to scale up. Using augmented reality in prawn farming
Aussies love their prawns and we grow some of the best and biggest prawns in the world. Farmers spend a lot of time and effort monitoring their ponds and making sure the water conditions keep their prawns healthy and thriving. Currently, monitoring water quality for most farms is very slow and labour intensive. State-of-the-art wearable and hands-free technologies are changing the game. New tech from CSIRO gives farmers immediate pond-side understanding of key water quality parameters and trends. It takes live sensor data captured in ponds and uses machine learning to forecast key water quality variables 24 hours into the future. It will help the farmers get early notification if the water quality starts to change for the worse - a world first for prawn farming. https://blog.csiro.au/game-on-using-augmente

Tracking the journey of food produce to reduce food waste
This service monitors food products from the farm gate to the end of the supply chain. Any deviation from ideal conditions accelerates the deterioration of products, leading to increased waste and inconsistent quality. This recording device logs time, air temperature and location, then data is transmitted in near-real time to a platform, and you can see the conditions to which the product is exposed and how long it has spent in each leg of the chain (www.escavox.com).
