Advanced Functional Materials has published new findings that suggest a new diagnostic imaging technology detecting early-stage plaques may help identify lesions caused by heart attacks and strokes. Photoacoustic imaging (PAI) uses nanoparticles to identify issues in arteries, representing a significant step toward using the technique in humans.
