Researchers from the University of Queensland have used a novel immunotherapy treatment to save family dog Griffin from a rare type of cancer.
The medical trial has helped around 30% of dogs with cancer by 'waking up' their immune system which helps their own body destroy the cancer.
Once a dog is diagnosed with the cancer, a small piece of the tumour is removed and mixed with an adjuvant to bolster the immune response. This gets injected over a number of weeks or months.
