New technology to combat melanoma set for Australia

post-image
More than 28,000 Australians are diagnosed with melanoma every year, with 15,000 set to trial 3D body scanners to detect and treat melanoma. The Australian Cancer Research Foundation will roll out the new technology in Queensland, NSW and Victoria, using full body mapping enabling researchers to investigate and track potentially problematic moles and skin spots over a five-year period. Researchers hope to create an algorithm which can detect those most at risk of melanoma and other skin cancers. This technology will also contribute to a national database of 100,000 patient images taken from the 15 state-of-the-art 3D imaging systems. | https://thewest.com.au/news/health/game-changer-melanoma-scanners-booted-up-c-3946300
