ER Doctor develops technique to save shark attack victims

The Journal of Emergency Medicine Australasia has published a simple technique to save shark attack victims at the scene by stemming blood loss. The technique relies on a second person using their fist and bodyweight to stem flow in the victim’s groin, buying them time while help arrives. Lead author and surfer, Dr Nicholas Taylor, developed the idea after visiting Western Australia during a time of increased shark attacks. This is great information to have. It seems to be significantly more effective than a tourniquet. This technique should be taught everywhere!
