A way for blind people to see
In a world-first, surgeons have implanted a visual stimulator chip in the brain of a 30-year-old woman. The patient, who has been totally blind for seven years, saw coloured flashes, lines and spots when signals were sent to her brain from a computer. Her doctors are now planning to send footage from a tiny video camera to the brain, which could provide the world's first bionic eye and restore sight to millions. The technology bypasses the eyes, meaning it has the potential to restore sight even to those who have lost an eye or become blinded by cancer. http://www.brecorder.com/arts-a-leisure/arts/325793-worlds-first-bionic-eye-to-give-blind-chance-of-seeing-again.html

An urban village
Central Park is an urban village with vertical gardens growing up the side of skyscrapers, funky new lanes with bars and cafes, galleries housed in heritage buildings, advanced office accommodation, cutting-edge retail and luxury apartments. On-site water recycling?and a central thermal?tri-generation plant reduce carbon emissions and minimise mains water demand. With an unprecedented investment in eco-friendly designs, Central Park plans to raise the bar for sustainable living not just in Sydney, but globally. www.centralparksydney.com

Asylum seekers offer you cooking classes and a home cooked meal
Free to Feed is a social enterprise that runs cooking classes in Melbourne taught exclusively by asylum seekers and refugees. You can attend their "pop up" locations for these classes and also arrange them at your home. After the cooking lesson you can enjoy the meal. The aim is to create a cultural exchange between asylum seekers and the general public through conversation, learning and food that can lead to a better life in Australia including employment opportunities. https://www.thefundingnetwork.com.au/events/upcoming-events-list/sydney-9-nov-2016/ Photo Graham Denholm
