Fossil fuel companies should keep their promises
Oil majors have, in the recent past, rolled out pledges to decrease oil and gas production and slash emissions, concerned about the climate crisis. And yet, amid record-shattering heat-waves, BP has scaled back an earlier goal of lowering its emissions by 35% by 2030, ExxonMobil quietly withdrew funding for a heavily publicized effort to use algae to create low-carbon fuel. And Shell announced that it would not increase its investments in renewable energy this year, This article exposes the fossil-fuel industry approach to ignore the future for the sake of short-term profitability.Al Gore is right.https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/jul/16/big-oil-climate-pledges-extreme-heat-fossil-fuel

Patented.ai closes a $4 million pre-seed funding round
US intellectual property software provider, Patented.ai, has secured $4million in pre-seed funding to further build out LLM Shield, a tool that blocks Large Language Models (like ChatGPT) from accessing sensitive legal information.  Founded by Wayne Chang, LLM Shield enables individuals and companies to avoid inadvertently sharing personal identifying information and sensitive data with LLMs by using a proactive approach that filters data and protects against leaks.  Funding will be used to improve platform capabilities and enable the company to continue developing AI-powered software to protect IP.  To learn more, head to https://www.finsmes.com/2023/06/patented-ai-raises-4m-in-pre-seed-funding.html

White Hydrogen - The new "green" or a red herring?
White hydrogen is formed by various natural geochemical processes deep underground. However, because H2 molecules don't like existing by themselves, they are always seeking to bond with other molecules. This means to get larger and purer amounts of hydrogen, for example 90%, you have to go deeper. And while the oil & gas industry is used to drilling at depths, H2 poses a range of pretty unique engineering challenges.  (msn.com)https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/limitless-white-hydrogen-under-our-feet-may-soon-shatter-all-energy-assumptions/ar-AA1dPluA
