Formed in 2014, The Light Collective photographers are leaders in their field. They are renowned for their interpretive and artistic approach. In their latest exhibition and publication they have chosen to juxtapose the adjacent coal mining industry with the Great Barrier Reef as symbols for a global conversation to ask an important question; can we find a sustainable balance between the continued extraction and consumption of fossil fuels and the well-being of our great natural ecosystems? Mix It is a film project by young people with and without flight history initiated by Deutsche Filmakademie. They share a common goal to build bridges, trust and allow young people to exchange views. They deal with topics from their everyday lives. The joint filmmaking strengthens media and social competence and promotes the ability to work in a team. Participants are from Germany, Syria, Palestine, Iran, Jordon, Turkey and Pakistan. ?I have lived in this old bakery for forty years on Sydney's Balmain Peninsula and have wanted to honour its history and contribute to the local community by enlivening the street. The shopfront includes generous windows that lend themselves to a micro-gallery size exhibition space.
