I attended a business planning seminar in the 1980's taught by a Harvard professor when I was working with American Express. I asked him for career advice and he asked if I'd done a business plan on myself. If I was learning to do it for companies why not on myself? I thought this was a great idea so wrote a 5 year plan on myself (in handwriting before computers) and it was a great guide to my life and career. The plan included this chart on my planned income, expenses, savings and investments. There are now FinTech platforms for aspects of this plan.
