Everyone deserves a home!
A Sydney charity has developed a toolkit to make it easier for homeless Australians with severe mental health issues to apply for the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Getting more vulnerable people accessing the NDIS could reduce homelessness and help those experiencing mental illness make strides in their recovery.https://bit.ly/2MXxtuZ @ideaspies

A women-only bus to prevent violence against women on public buses in PNG
A study by UN Women found that more than 90% of women had been assaulted on public buses in Port Moresby, PNG. This high rate of violence was keeping women home from work and girls from school. In 2016, the Meri Seif Bus was introduced. This is a free women only bus which works on so many levels. It educates women about sexual violence, consent, street violence and women's empowerment while they sit on the bus. It creates a safe space for them to share stories and views. It offers referral pathways for women in need. All this happens whilst enjoying a safe ride on the bus to their final destination. The program has been expanding with new buses in both Lae and Port Moresby. https://unwomen.org.au/resource/meri-seif-bus-factsheet/

Helping those in need while fighting fashion waste
Did you know that 1/3 of produced clothing stock is dead stock and therefore cannot be sold? Or that 13% of Australia's population is below poverty? Thread Together is an organisation that solves the problem of fast fashion waste by giving back to the community. They take unused clothing and shoes from high-quality Australian fashion retailers and deliver it to less fortunate people who are in need, while saving new clothing from going directly to landfill. https://www.threadtogether.org/
