An
opportunity to revisit the past at the NGV’s world-premiere exhibition, The Picasso Century, that charts the
extraordinary career of Pablo Picasso in dialogue with the many artists, poets
and intellectuals with whom he interacted throughout the 20th century,
including Georges Braque, Salvador Dalí, Alberto Giacometti, Françoise Gilot,
Valentine Hugo, Marie Laurencin, Dora Maar, André Masson, Henri
Matisse, Guillaume Apollinaire, Dorothea Tanning and Gertrude
Stein. An exhibition exclusively developed for the NGV by the Centre Pompidou
and the Musée national Picasso-Paris, the exhibition features over 80 works by
Picasso alongside over 100 works by more than 50 of his contemporaries.
A wonderful woman in Iran, who is part of our IdeaSpies Community, told me about the troubles in Iran as soon as they started and has been sending me updates with images to share. This one tells the story in a very creative way. She and many others in Iran are seeking support for change.
KitePride Is an Israeli fashion social
enterprise based in Telavi owned by Israeli NGO Hope Center and German NGO GlowbalAct. They create
one-of-a-kind BAGS from up-cycled kitesurfing kite, sail, parachute and wetsuits
to provide jobs for survivors of human trafficking and prostitution. Through
each bag sold, continuous jobs are created, and fabric is saved from
landfill. Every bag is designed, and sewn, by someone who has exited human
trafficking and prostitution. Each unique upcycled
bag is sewn in a safe environment by these survivors. The business dream was to
end human trafficking and forced prostitution.
