Electronic petitions

The NSW Government has initiated an inquiry into allowing electronic petitions. The inquiry was triggered by a petition of more than 107,073 people who were calling for a ban on plastic bags, but could not table the document in parliament without creating still more waste. Petitions signed by more than 500 people must receive a response from the relevant minister within 35 days. http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/electronic-petitions-absurd-parliamentary-rule-requires-4000-pages-of-signatures-20170223-gujz41.html
