An unfortunate update
The United States government has signed a major deal with Ellume, an Australian pharmaceutical company based in Brisbane, to produce millions of their at-home rapid tests for COVID-19.
The rapid test can be used by anyone at home and detects coronavirus from people with or without symptoms with 90 per cent accuracy.
It also doesn’t require an invasive and uncomfortable nasal swab, with a sample taken from inside the nose rather than deep inside your nasal cavity.
The sample is then put into a digital analyser linked to an app and results are sent to users’ smartphones within 15 minutes.
