Our hotel in Florence recommended we have dinner at Trattoria ZaZa. If you come by 6pm, which is very early for Italians, you can avoid the long queues seen in this photo. ZaZa offers excellent Tuscan cuisine in spacious surroundings with excellent service at reasonable prices and no tips expected. We went there nearly every night of our stay in Florence, early so we didn't need to queue. We were surprised to hear they seat about 700 quests.
Concentrated solar power (CSP) traditionally uses large arrays of mirrors to direct sunlight onto a tall central receiver tower, which then creates heat that is stored in various liquids for use when the sun is not shining to generate electricity. CSP offers storage that traditional solar (PV) systems do not, however they have been historically big and expensive. An Australian company has developed a smaller, cheaper CSP and PV combination, with a 70% efficiency rate (on par with pumped hydro). The pilot project is currently operating in Carwarp, Victoria, Australia. https://reneweconomy.com.au/the-australian-solar-tech-that-may-have-found-a-low-cost-solution-to-deep-storage/
Adelaide-based Sparc is prototype testing its photocatalytic reactor
technology to split water into its constituent hydrogen and oxygen
molecules at CSIRO’s Energy Centre in Newcastle, New South WalesThe photocatalytic water splitting technology is expected to deliver
cost and flexibility advantages over green hydrogen projects that use
electrolysers or solar farms, given the lower infrastructure and energy requirements.Sparc executive chair Stephen Hunt said this is “a world leading demonstration of photocatalytic water
splitting in a concentrated solar field"https://www.innovationaus.com/adelaide-uni-fortsecue-hydrogen-venture-starts-testing-prototype/
In Alaska, whale watching is a major tourist attraction. There are over 20 tourist boats in Juneau alone.
Humpback whales are protected by the Marine Mammal Protection Act.The federal regulation insures that whales are protected from injury, killing, hunting capturing or harassment.
Vessels cannot approach whales within 100 yards or place themselves in the whale path causing the whales to surface within 100 yards of vessel.Captains must use a radio to coordinate other boaters and take turns viewing the whales as to not disturb them.Tourist companies are requested to educate passengers in regard to these regulations.
