In 2015 the top 1% owned the same amount as the bottom 99% and in 2016 they owned more. The top 1% now owns more than half of global wealth. This increasing wealth gap is seen to contribute significantly to social changes around the world, seen most recently in the French and US elections as well as Brexit in the UK. Belleview Research
