In May this year, Switzerland revised its food safety laws to allow for the sale of insect products containing crickets, grasshoppers and mealworms ? the first European country to do so. Coop, a supermarket chain in Switzerland, recently started selling edible bugs in the form of insect balls and burgers made by the startup Essento. Noma, recognised for years as the no 1 restaurant in the world, is known for its insect delicacies, including ants. The health benefits of bugs are now being promoted. https://www.essento.ch/

An Australian startup has developed a password-less authentication and one-click payment system. It doesn't rely on the storage of credit card details, with no details stored on a server that can be hacked. Key details are encrypted on a user's device, and in the case of the payment system, the key to unlock the encryption is on the merchant's server with the user's account information. It means a hacker would have to breach numerous systems, rather than find one weakness in order to successfully get in, hence would potentially eradicate the risk of mass breaches of customer log-on and payment details. www.haventec.com
