The Future of Healthcare – 2021 & Beyond
Across the World, hospitals are over their capacities, doctors' offices are now Covid-19 breeding grounds, and more and more people are working from home…so the question is: “How do we properly address and tackle the difficult tasks of continuing to provide high-quality, remote, patient-care to those still in need medical attention?” Israel’s commanding intelligence and sophistication in the worlds of IoT, Cyber & Cybersecurity, Life-Sciences, Healthcare and Medical Devices make Israel one of the most logical and sound partners of Healthcare Providers/Institutions across the globe. Companies such as BioBeat, Binah.ai, Hyro, Datos, MyHomeDoc need to be considered now. Read: http://www.israeltrade.org.au/the-future-of-healthcare-2021-beyond/

Biodegradable and biocompatible sensors
Researchers from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) have produced displays that have been biodegradability certified and checked by independent auditorsThe construction materials are of natural origin or biocompatible and are sealed with gelatin making the display adhesive and flexible so it can be worn directly on the skin. This sort of display is particularly well-suited for short-lifecycle applications in sectors like medical diagnostics. The technology could also be used to monitor food packaging where reuse isn’t permitted.Scientists believe this is the first demonstration of a biodegradable display produced using inkjet printing.https://www.slashgear.com/researchers-create-biodegradable-flexible-displays-for-skin-28657194/

Extending the life of patients with head and neck cancer
Researchers at the University of Cincinnati are working to extend the lives of those with head and neck cancer through a new combination therapy. As the sixth most common cancer worldwide with high return rates, it is truly life-altering. The study combined radiation therapy with telaglenastat to stop a key enzyme in a cell pathway that alters in cancer cells and causes cells to grow rapidly and resist treatment. Using animal models, the drug reduced the growth of the cancer cells up to 90% and increased the efficacy of radiation in animals by 40%. | https://medicalxpress.com/news/2021-01-drug-therapy-effective-neck-cancer.html.

Mini Human Brains With Muscles Attached
The next big thing in probing the brain is assembloids—free-floating brain circuits—that now combine brain tissue with an external output. To be clear, few would argue that today’s mini-brains are capable of any sort of consciousness or awareness. But as mini-brains get increasingly more sophisticated, at what point can we consider them a sort of AI, capable of computation or even something that mimics thought? We don’t yet have an answer—but the debates are on.https://singularityhub.com/2021/01/12/meet-assembloids-mini-human-brains-with-muscles-attached

Artificial heart to be sold in Europe
The artificial heart is made by a French company called Carmat, and is designed for people with end-stage biventricular heart failure. That’s when both of the heart’s ventricles—chambers near the bottom of the heart that pull in and push out blood between the lungs and the rest of the body—are too weak to carry out their function. It’s been approved as a temporary replacement while patients wait for donor hearts, and is estimated to last about five years.Carmat’s artificial heart will launch commercially in Germany and France in the second quarter of this year. https://singularityhub.com/2021/01/20/this-artificial-heart-will-soon-be-on-the-market-in-europe
