Neutral Buoyancy defined is the equal tendency to either float or sink. Divers and astronauts experience the same feeling. Even though being underwater and being in space is different, astronauts feel the weight of their suits as well as the drag of the water very similar to scuba divers. This helps with important training for astronaut preparation mentally and physically.
The Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory (NBL) located at the Sonny Carter Training Facility near NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, USA supports this training.
