Victoria joins other states in high stakes renewable targets

Victoria has joined all the other Australian states in aiming high on 95% renewables by 2035 and rapidly phasing out coal-fired power. The Government will "replace polluting, privately owned coal with clean government owned renewable energy" with a $1bill commitment to the delivery of 4.5GW worth of renewable energy projects:

This follows major announcements from the Qld, NSW and WA states with similar targets. It differs somewhat in the increased government involvement.

And this only covers energy and does not yet address emission reduction in the other sectors, especially transport and agriculture - but watch this space:
