Seaweed tyres to reduce ocean pollution

To celebrate World Oceans Day in June the CSIRO sought ideas from the public on the future science and technology needed to sustain our oceans.

Congratulations Jessica Leitmanis from Victoria for winning with your idea:

Create rubber from seaweed that can be used to replace synthetic rubber components of car tyres. It addresses marine plastic pollution from tyre dust and promotes healthy oceans through kelp farm ecosystems whilst drawing down carbon… reducing climate related impacts on ocean life.
