Robots for night time stock control

post-image

Bunnings is trialling a retail tech robot made by Zippedi to do night-time rounds of stores, scanning aisles and shelves for out-of-stock items. It's part of a broader program of work to make in-store processes more efficient.

These robots use computer vision and artificial intelligence to conduct inventory, pricing and other retail tasks that might otherwise entail slow or manual processes.

They also use in-built cameras to identify shelf-gaps, and assign suitable locations for products waiting to be shelved.

The broader purpose of the trials is to reduce the time that staff spend performing tasks, which is better spent servicing customers.
