Recycling jeans into TShirts

post-image

The technical hurdles to recycling clothing made of cotton have been too high in the past due to use of blended materials, but now a team of researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany have found a way. They are the first to produce a viscose filament yarn made of recycled cotton. This fibre can be used to mass-manufacture textiles. The researchers can turn cotton clothes such as jeans into new high-quality garments rather than lowly cleaning rags. https://www.fraunhofer.de/en/press/research-news/2020/august/from-old-jeans-to-new-t-shirt.html
