Tides provide stable, predictable renewable energy sources which can compliment other less predictable sources like wind and solar. As this CNN video shows, costs are dropping for these technologies, with this report noting US$0.3 cents per kwh, which is lower than large-scale solar in the US.

As the world's largest island continent, we should be harnessing the natural energy bounty that surrounds us.
