MicroTau, an advanced manufacturing company utilises nature's already existing unique and practical surfaces to be able to directly print biomimetic patterns to surfaces, think anti-reflective moth eyes for example. Their microfabrication has been utilised so far in industries such as aviation, shipping, healthcare and aerospace. By mimicking low-drag shark skin "riblets" in microfabrication the company has been able to exhibit a 7% drag reduction and combat fuel burn for the US Airforce.
