Engagement with the MoTM network presents an opportunity for IdeaSpies to share their ideas with 'movers and shakers' in the Australian SME 'hi-tech' (advanced) manufacturing sector. Networks and industry clusters have been found time and time again to be effective seeding grounds for identifying industry partners that can assist in converting good ideas into commercial products and services.

Importance to an industrial economy of a modern manufacturing capability cannot be overstated. Manufacturing on the Move encapsulates that and some. Aside from the widgetry and technologies, both of which abound in Australia, key issues: Overcoming national complacency; we are neither too small nor too remote and our geography is well suited for 21st century growth markets; we can't and shouldn't attempt to compete with the familiar cheap-labour markets; it's all about being smart and pro-active instead of cheap, desperate and reactive.
