Australian policing agencies are lobbying the federal government to introduce a version of the Magnitsky Act, allowing authorities to financially blacklist suspected crime bosses and corrupt officials.

In his interview last year, Deputy Commissioner Karl Kent cautioned that locking up the next drug boss was less a priority than finding ways to attack the infrastructure that organised crime groups need to prosper.
