Deepfakes - an innovator's opportunity

post-image

Earlier this year we saw a deepfake audio of a CEO being used by malicious actors in a fraudulent attempt to extract funds from a business. In future, this technique could be used to distribute greater political misinformation/ speech and other distrust, or create reputational damage for well-known brands, leaders and personalities using images, video and audio.

Innovators may find significant social good for detecting deepfakes and building reputation systems & services - our ability to discern the truth will get more complex!

There should be a way of detecting who caused the fake as well as that it is a fake. Large penalties will be needed to deter the practice. Are laws keeping up with the tech developments?

I agree, these days, it is hard to distinguish deep fakes with the original ones!
