A headless, tailless robot dog called Spot has the potential to make a big difference for people across the world with vision impairment thanks to students at the Queensland University of Technology.

The beauty of a robot guide dog is once you've programmed it, you can transfer the knowledge from one trained robot guide dog to others. Guide dog users travelling internationally could collect reprogrammed robotic dogs at each location to avoid taking their real dogs through quarantine.

A regular guide dog does so much more than just guide a person. However Spot will be useful when travelling internationally and if your actual dog is sick.

There is room for both I think, nothing can replace the real thing, humans and dogs have had a very long long relationship.

Based on machine learning and speech recognition algorithms, the AI-powered Voiceitt platform is designed to recognize and translate speech by people with an underlying medical condition, disability or age-related condition that means their speech is hard to understand.
