A Canberra cafe has welcomed an autonomous robot waiter to its team after months of desperately searching for new staff.
Unions say the robots are welcome if they improve workplace safety for workers.
The robot delivers food and drinks to tables and returns dirty dishes back to the kitchen when they're finished with, patiently stopping when patrons pass by.
It was rented for a trial period and can be bought for an up-front cost of about A$30,000.
