A program that can tell if ChatGPT did your homework

A new online tool conceived by two Australians has been launched to help teachers and academics detect when homework and assignments have been churned out by the powerful ChatGPT.

Launched this week, the free tool helps teachers detect if text was generated by a GPT (generative pre-trained transformer) model, a type of AI that can produce human-like text.

Users copy and paste text into AICheatCheck which uses its own AI models to predict if the text has been written by a human or a machine based on clues such as the word choice and sentence structure.
