Battery and other e-waste recycling is reported to be the fastest-growing segment of the global solid waste stream management.

In Oz it is estimated 16,659 tonnes of waste batteries are not recycled.All batteries contain harmful substances that can damage the environment when improperly disposed into landfill.

By creating a circular economy for batteries Oz can create a new domestic industry, new jobs and greater environmental outcomes.

Magnetic Attraction: Microplastics

A Kyushu University study (2021) estimated there were 24.4 trillion pieces of microplastics in the world's upper oceans or roughly 30 billion 500-ml plastic water bottles. Microplastics are tiny, toxic and very hard to remove from the environment. But researchers in the US have discovered that some Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents (NADES) can attract and bind microplastics, making it easier to remove them from the environment.
