A broader land tax to replace stamp duties on property?

The NSW Review of Federal Financial Relations, led by businessman David Thodey, is releasing a consultation findings document before its interim report is due about April and final report in mid-2020.

Their findings show how property transfer duty is a costly tax that impacts citizens’ freedom to move throughout the seasons of life. It can have the worst impact on first-home buyers and seniors.

Most people are calling for the tax to be replaced. Perhaps a broader land tax would be fairer, more efficient and less volatile hence could replace it.
